The presence of F-35s in Vermont has led to concern for wildlife and human safety since the day they landed in Burlington Internal Airport in April of 2019.

So much so that on Town Meeting Day 2021, the city of Winooski held a vote that was approved 723-354 that will halt training flights of F-35s over densely populated areas. However, this measure doesn’t get rid of F-35s entirely, and the opposition is still fighting to remove what they believe to be environmentally harmful fighter jets.
